Next time you step foot inside the Glasgow Science Centre you will find yourself presented with the freshly re-opened café.
Situated within the IMAX building, this café has gone through an extensive renovation. It is open to all, whether you have a ticket to the latest blockbuster, are looking relax after experiencing all that the Science Centre has to offer, work in the area or are simply passing by.
A key question posed to those in charge at the Pacific Quay site prior to opening was, which coffee should they be serving?
Richy Kenny, Catering General Manager at the Glasgow Science Centre, said, “after deciding to take the operation of the café in-house, we knew we wanted to offer our customers true barista-style coffee of the highest quality. Having built a relationship with the team at Matthew Algie during COP 26, it was no-brainer to partner with them on this project.
“We already have a strong relationship with the John Muir Trust here at the Glasgow Science Centre. In fact, they have staff who work within the building. Therefore, when we started to hear the story behind Peak & Wild, we just knew it was the perfect fit.”
Peak & Wild is a freshly roasted, Rainforest Alliance certified coffee, that is also helping to restore the Rainforests of Scotland through a unique partnership with the John Muir Trust.

Kenny added: “It wasn’t simply the coffee that led us to work with Matthew Algie. We needed a partner that would deliver a true end-to-end service. We needed top-quality equipment, reliable engineers and sales staff and someone at the end of the phone in case any issues arise. Matthew Algie could provide all of these.
“Plus, the training support on offer is fantastic. It’ll be great to send each new member of staff onto one of the Matthew Algie training courses to ensure we serve consistently great tasting coffee to our customers.”
Jill Wotherspoon, Head of Marketing at Matthew Algie, commented, “we were so pleased to hear that Glasgow Science Centre would be selling Peak & Wild. We couldn’t agree more that it is a perfect fit for one of Scotland’s premier tourist attractions.
“At COP 26, where Matthew Algie was showcased as an example of climate best practice, our team supported the Science Centre in its coffee service. It was during the two-week summit that we first began to discuss Peak & Wild with them.
“The Science Centre’s target of becoming carbon neutral by 2030 aligns perfectly with this coffee’s sustainable credentials. Visitors to this new café can enjoy delicious coffee safe in the knowledge that has been ethically sourced and is making a difference in the battle to conserve and restore one of Scotland’s most precious habitats.”
