Our Approach
At Matthew Algie, coffee is more than a product - it’s a craft, a partnership, and a promise. Every stage of our process, from sourcing to roasting to sustainability, is guided by a single principle: to do things the right way. That means making exceptional coffee while supporting people, protecting the planet, and helping our customers grow.
From Bean to Cup
Our approach begins at origin, where we build long-term relationships with farmers and cooperatives who share our commitment to quality and responsibility. Working together, we ensure every bean is grown, harvested and traded with care. With over 80% of our coffees certified by Fairtrade, Organic or Rainforest Alliance, our sourcing model delivers both consistency and conscience in every cup.
Crafted with Care in Glasgow
At our Glasgow roastery, tradition meets innovation. Since 1964, our expert team has used precision roasting techniques to bring out the best in every coffee. Each batch is tested, cupped and packed at peak freshness to guarantee quality, consistency and flavour you can depend on. The roastery is the beating heart of our business - where passion, craft and reliability come together.
Driven by Sustainability
We believe great coffee should have a positive impact - on people, communities and the environment. Guided by our five sustainability pillars and a clear roadmap to Net Zero by 2040, we’re continuously reducing emissions, supporting fair livelihoods and giving back to the places we call home. It’s a commitment recognised by awards, but driven by action and accountability.
A Better Future, One Cup at a Time
Our approach connects every part of our journey - from the farmers we partner with to the coffee we roast and the cafés we support. Together, we’re shaping a future where exceptional coffee goes hand in hand with positive change.Sign up to our
