WEEE Collection & Recycling of End-of-Life Electrical Equipment

As a responsible importer of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE), Matthew Algie is committed to complying with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations.

Our WEEE return scheme allows customers to safely and responsibly recycle end-of-life equipment.

Equipment marked with a crossed-out wheeled bin symbol can and should be recycled. Please do not dispose of it in your general waste bin.

How the Process Works

We have designed a simple process to ensure collections are handled smoothly and transparently:

1.     Step 1 – Request

For more information or to use our WEEE collection & recycling service, contact our technical service team to request to uplift (collection) of owned equipment, originally purchased from Matthew Algie:

·       Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man: gec@matthewalgie.com

·       Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland: techsupporthelpdesk@matthewalgie.ie

2.     Step 2 – Quotation & Confirmation

Our technical service team will provide:

  • The cost of collection (where applicable).
  • A formal quotation by email, outlining the terms of the uplift.
  • A letter of agreement, which must be signed and returned prior to scheduling the collection.

3.     Step 3 – Collection Arranged

Once we receive the signed letter, our technical service team will organise the collection at a mutually agreed date and time.

Historic and Current WEEE

Matthew Algie has adopted a universal WEEE policy that covers both Historic WEEE (items purchased before April 2005) and Current WEEE (items purchased after April 2005).

This allows us to meet compliance obligations while offering customers the option to have old equipment collected and responsibly disposed of when ordering replacement items, regardless of brand or purchase date.

To arrange this, please contact sales@matthewalgie.com.

Important Notes

  • Equipment must be made available for collection in a safe, accessible location.
  • All WEEE collected will be handled in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Customers must ensure data has been securely removed from any equipment prior to uplift.
  • Items must be empty, packaged for transit and clearly labelled for WEEE collection.
  • For refrigeration units, ensure your items are disconnected, empty and clearly labelled for WEEE collection.
