The 150th Open Championship is about to get underway, with a record-breaking 290,000 spectators expected to flock to St Andrews over the course of this week.

That means a lot of coffee is required to fuel everyone in attendance, from the players and caddies, to the officials, members of the media and the hundreds of thousands of expectant golf fans.

To cater for all those visiting the Old Course this week, our Roastery in Glasgow (the first in the world to achieve the Carbon Neutral International Standard) has roasted over 100,000 cups worth of coffee especially for the event.

To go along with over 250 cases of the finest coffee, Matthew Algie is also providing 48 Bean-to-Cup Machines, 4 Traditional Coffee Machines, dozens of boilers & brewers and countless pieces of additional equipment.

Head of National Accounts Catering for Matthew Algie, William Brewill, said, “Matthew Algie, which also has over 150 years of history, is proud to supply coffee, tea, hot chocolate machines, technical support and training services to such an historic event. We are delighted that attendees this week will be able to enjoy our delicious and sustainable Peak & Wild Coffee.”

Forming the bulk of the coffee order for the 150th Open Championship is in fact Peak & Wild, specifically our Bracken Blend. A Triple Certified coffee, its sustainable and Fairtrade credentials align perfectly with The Open’s commitment to using ethical food suppliers and the hosting of a sustainable event.

William added: “Just because you are at a sporting event doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be able to grab a great cup of coffee. Our wider team at the roastery has worked tirelessly to ensure that the coffee and all the machines were delivered in time to support the 150th Open at the Home of Golf. Our 12-strong on-site team, meanwhile, has been hard at work setting up those machines and delivering training across the sprawling site to ensure everyone can enjoy the perfect brew.”
