The Matthew Algie Retail Coffee Index (known to friends and family as MARCI) shows the majority of the chains are holding their prices steady, with only Pret introducing small
price increases.

Department store hikes have pushed the average price of a 12oz double latte to £1.78 – although Starbucks are still the most expensive, at a wallet-stripping £1.94.

And small is definitely out – Eat is the only chain to offer an 8oz latte.

Back over at the department stores, the range of drinks on offer is increasing – although only Allders and House of Fraser Edinburgh upped their prices.
