We’ve just about completed a major
project to refresh the packaging of our teas with bold new
designs. The teas will all come under our brand name ‘Golden
Tip’, and we’ve got a variation for every way of
brewing.
For instance, we’ve included soft-heat,
bulk brew, loose leaf and individual bags – so you get
tea designed exactly for how you use it. Essentially, these
teas will be the same high quality blend – all that changes
is the way you make the tea.
Of course, we’re also redefining
another favourite – our Earl Grey.
Across the range, packaging picks up on
the floral pattern and colours of the existing designs, but
it’s now much more graphical and distinct. There’s
a real Art Deco feel to everything. It’s about moving
the packaging forward and building brand loyalty – while
still recognising the heritage of Golden Tip.
But the change is more than paper-deep.
We’re completely revising the blend
as well – the loose blend will combine broken pekoe grades
(for lightness and freshness) with broken orange pekoe for
body. The teabag version is similar – but with smaller
leaf grades to help infusion.
Oh, and while we’re on the subject
of leaf size, it’s worth clearing
up a popular misconception: small leaves don’t necessarily
mean
bad tea. Sure, the incredibly fine powder used in inferior
blends bears more relation to floor dust than tea. But Pekoe
Fannings and Pekoe Dust are actually highly prized teas –
because their small sized leaves makes them perfect for teabags.
You can tell these distinguished teas
by the dark colour of their leaves – as opposed to the
lightly coloured floor dust.
